Christmas 2016

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This is literally my favorite time of the year. I think the holiday season is magical in a sense. People tend to show a lot more love than usual and even though there are definitely some Scrooges, there’s still a positive spirit in the air that can’t be denied. 

I also love this time of year because over 2000 years ago God gave us the best Christmas gift of all: Jesus Christ. God sent us his Son to pay the ultimate price so that we may have a chance with Him. Isn’t that amazing? I love the quote for this week because I think it captures Christmas very well. 

“Probably the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts is that we don’t quite know how to put our love into words.” -Harlan Miller

I love it because God gave a gift so great because he loves us that much. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world…” God gave a gift so precious because He wanted to show us how much he truly loved us. But Him just saying he loved us wasn’t enough. He went as far as giving us something physical to display how he felt for us. If you think about it, we give in the same way during this season. We give gifts to those closest to us to show our love for them. We love because we were first loved (1 John 4:19). We show love because we were first shown love. Isn’t that amazing?!
